6 Top Tips For Live Music At Your Wedding

1. When Should You Hire A Musician Or Singer For Your Wedding?

There are plenty of opportunities for live music throughout the day- ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening reception. A live musician or wedding singer will make your day even more memorable providing a unique atmosphere, a romantic setting with your favoutie songs. But when you’re ready to party you should think about a wedding band or DJ to get your guests off their feet and dancing the night away!

2.    A Memorable First Dance

A live performance for the first dance is much better than any recording can ever be. For an additional fee, you could also ask for the musician to record your first dance song. Then you can listen to it again and again and remember that moment forever.

3. Make Sure Your Special Day Is Filled With Your Favourite Songs

If you have a special song request or you have a favourite artist let the musician know so they can tailor the music to your tastes. Most musicians will be happy to learn a couple of songs for you so you can make sure that your favourite song plays on your wedding day. Make sure you tell them in plenty of time though, the longer you give the musician the better the performance will be.

4. Does The Venue Allow Amplified Music?

Amplified music isn’t mandatory if the venue doesn’t allow it. However, if the musician usually uses a live speaker to amplify themselves and you have a lot of guests this could result in the music not being heard very well. Its best to check with the venue beforehand to let your musician advise you on the consequences.

5. Check The Weather

Most musicians will be happy to play inside or outside. However look at the weather before making this choice- if cold weather or rain is forecasted this can not only impede a musicians playing ability, it can also damage the equipment.

6.    PLI & PAT

Ensure your musician or singer has both PAT tested equipment and Public Liability Insurance as a lot of wedding venues require this.
